I got a trial subscription to Gizmos. The website is www.explorelearning.com and the students will have their usernames and passwords. They can explore with simulations for math and science that relate to what we are doing in class. They can take and submit the assessment.
For solving word problems, we will work with the CUBES strategy.
CUBES - Math Strategy
C - Circle all written or numeric numbers in problem
U - Underline all information you will use, and the question
B - Box Key Words (in all, Not, each, how many more, total, etc.)
E - Eliminate unneccessary information in the problem and any obviously wrong answer choices.
S- Solve the problem and SHOW your work!
